Background :
An international container ship service that operates on a bi-monthly schedule has been launched by Port Canaveral that will help enhance trade relations among Central Florida, Mexico, and the U.S. Northeast. This will be done through a joint venture of Green Tide Logistics and Canaveral Cargo Terminal Operator (GT USA).
This route will help Port Canaveral achieve its goal of expanding its cargo business and increasing international trade by providing a more reliable supply chain solution to its clients. It is anticipated to sail twice per month with potential plans to add more sailings in case of increasing demand. GT USA will be providing terminal operations for this shipping line, and Norton Lilly will be the vessel agent.
The shipping line will transport 80 to 120 import containers from Mexico on each voyage. The companies are also working to increase export shipments as the service develops.
The service officially began earlier this month when the M/V Whale Orca made its first visit to Port Canaveral’s North Cargo Berth 6. The ship offloaded electronics and foodstuffs, assisted by the port’s heavy-lift mobile harbour crane.
Officials from Port Canaveral, Green Tide Logistics, GT USA, and Norton Lilly marked the occasion with a traditional plaque exchange ceremony alongside the ship’s captain to celebrate the vessel’s first call at the port.
Port Canaveral said the new service will improve supply chain connections for businesses in Central Florida while supporting the port’s long-term goal of growing its international cargo operations and offering customers greater flexibility in global trade.
