Key Background
Kia officially launched the 2026 EV4 electric sedan for the US market, aiming to make driving an EV more convenient and desirable. A part of Kia’s growing EV family, the EV4 is differentiated by its bold design, expansive range, and utility-oriented features. Built on the same E-GMP platform supporting other best-seller Kia EVs, the EV4 will compete against scorching sellers like the Hyundai Ioniq 6 and Tesla Model 3.
One of the strong points of the EV4 is range flexibility. Buyers have the option of either a 58.3 kWh battery with up to quoted 235 miles of range or the 81.4 kWh one providing up to 330 miles. Both feature DC fast-charging with a 10% to 80% refill time of approximately 30 minutes. The car is front-wheel drive and equipped with a 201-horsepower motor that goes 0 to 62 mph in about 7.7 seconds—the perfect motor for city and urban driving.
Having adopted Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) port strategically, Kia drivers are made eligible for usage of Tesla’s vast network of Superchargers. The switch will ease charging throughout North America and represents the continuing trend amongst non-Tesla EV brands to standardize on it.
Within the cabin, the EV4 has a 30-inch panoramic display consisting of twin 12.3-inch displays and a 5.3-inch HVAC control display. Ambience lighting, premium connectivity, and over-the-air software update capability are also part of what is found within the cabin. Inclusions such as Netflix and YouTube are also part of what is included within the car. Harman Kardon audio system and head-up display are among the premium features which can be had at an additional cost.
Manufacturing of the EV4 will begin in South Korea, with sales in the U.S. beginning in early 2026. The price hasn’t been disclosed, but Kia intends to position the EV4 starting from under $38,000, which would make it one of the lowest-cost electric sedans in its class.
