Background-

Associated British Ports (ABP) has launched HELM Immingham, a 227-acre industrial and logistics hub on the Humber, described as one of the region’s most significant projects of its kind in a decade.

Mayor of Greater Lincolnshire Dame Andrea Jenkyns DBE and ABP Humber Regional Director Andrew Dawes opened the site, and guests from business and civil society toured the first units.

Phase One delivers eight units with 103,000 square feet of space for engineering, manufacturing and port logistics firms. Smaller and mid-sized businesses in logistics, engineering, manufacturing and distribution are the main audience for the eight units, which start at 5,000 square feet and reach 30,000 square feet.

The complete masterplan includes more than 1.1 million square feet of logistics and manufacturing space and 90 acres of open storage for automotive goods. ABP, which runs the nearby ports of Grimsby and Immingham, sees the scale as proof of its confidence in the area.

Dawes said the project fits ABP’s strategy to keep Britain trading, strengthens national trade infrastructure and lifts the Humber’s standing as the UK’s leading trade gateway. He said it keeps the ports attractive to customers.

Greg Lacey, Head of Property for the Humber, said HELM gives growing firms space at the ports and creates local jobs and economic opportunity.

The units carry BREEAM Excellent and EPC A ratings and include air source heat pumps, EV charging, solar-ready structures and sustainable drainage. The site sits close to the A180 and both Humber estuary ports.
