Business Gateway Lanarkshire is supporting Scottish Start-Up Month, a national campaign running through September to mark Scotland’s entrepreneurial spirit and encourage more people to launch their own businesses.
The campaign points to free advice and resources available through Business Gateway, including one-to-one support from advisers, hands-on workshops, and access to tools and templates.
As part of the month’s activities, Business Gateway Lanarkshire is inviting anyone with a business idea, or those who have recently started trading, to join its Start-Up Bootcamp on Tuesday, 15 September at Newmains Community and Conference Centre in Wishaw.
The free workshop will cover key steps in starting a business, including marketing, operations and finance. Attendees will get practical resources such as templates and checklists, and have the chance to network with others.
Laura McInally, a Business Gateway Lanarkshire adviser, said many people have a business idea but are unsure where to start. She said Scottish Start-Up Month shows aspiring owners that support is available locally, and the bootcamp is designed to give practical advice, useful tools and confidence to move forward.
Councillor Alex McVey, Convener of the Enterprise and Fair Work Committee, said local businesses play a key role in creating jobs and driving economic growth across North Lanarkshire. He encouraged anyone considering self-employment to attend the bootcamp. Places are limited, so advance booking is required. The event is free to attend.
