Background-
QuestGates has acquired Richard Hartley Partnership, a specialist claims provider covering complex losses in the power and construction sectors, marking the group’s third acquisition within eight months as part of a strategy to build an integrated claims service.
Established in 1999 and based in Harrogate, RHP delivers specialist adjusting services across the UK and abroad, with deep expertise in power, energy, nuclear, construction and renewables. It will keep operating under its existing brand.
Rick Hartley, executive chairman of RHP, said the firm remains committed to tailored, agile solutions for complex claims, adding that joining QuestGates opens fresh opportunities for staff while strengthening client services.
The deal follows the group’s acquisition of Manchester-based liability specialist Howell Wild and City law firm Miles Fanning Legal through its QGLaw arm earlier in the year. Each fills a distinct gap.
QGLaw brought legal services, Howell Wild brought liability adjusting, and RHP brings power and construction expertise, together forming one proposition covering loss adjusting, legal support and technical assessment.
Chief executive Greg Laker joined QuestGates to steer its growth into a broader claims solutions provider spanning loss adjusting, legal services, forensic accounting and surveying, giving the acquisitions an architectural rather than opportunistic feel.
Power and construction losses demand technical skills that generalist claims handling rarely covers, including engineering assessment, business interruption calculations and multi-party liability analysis.
Acquiring RHP, with 27 years of specialist history and established insurer relationships, gives QuestGates that depth immediately.
Glen Donaldson, chief commercial officer, said RHP’s specialist capabilities have long been recognised within the group, and that its expertise and client base will strengthen the range of claims solutions on offer.
For brokers and insurers placing power, construction, engineering or energy losses, the group can now coordinate loss adjusting, legal support and technical expertise through one relationship rather than several providers.
