Geneva-based private bank Lombard Odier has strengthened its Turkey business by hiring a senior private banker from UBS. Tuncay Yilmaz will join Lombard Odier as Market Head Turkey, moving over after twelve years at UBS, according to an internal memo from the bank.
Yilmaz most recently served in Zurich as Desk Head for ultra-high-net-worth and high-net-worth clients from Turkey. He brings close to three decades of experience in private banking to his new role.
Before his time at UBS, Yilmaz held positions at BNP Paribas Suisse, UBS in Geneva, Banque du Bosphore in Paris and Turkey’s Finansbank, building a wide-ranging career across major private banking institutions.
With this appointment, Lombard Odier aims to deepen its business with Turkish clients, a market the Geneva-based private bank considers strategically important. Yilmaz will be based in Geneva and report directly to the head of the New Markets division. He will also join the New Markets Management Forum as a member.
Cem Kosenem, who has served as interim head of the Turkey business, will continue at the bank as Senior Banker and will report to Yilmaz going forward.
The appointment reflects Lombard Odier’s continued focus on growing its presence in strategically important markets and reinforcing its private banking offering for Turkish clients.
