Background-

Colliers has appointed Jacob Snelson as data director of its business rates team, adding a new senior role to the UK department.

Snelson joins from tax group Ryan. He will work from the Manchester office and support the full rating team across the UK.

His job is to bring greater consistency to the team’s data sets, which should sharpen surveyor decision-making. He will work closely with colleagues across the rating team and wider business rates functions, and he will help improve how the team captures, manages and uses data to deliver better results for clients. He will also help shape processes, delivery and collaboration across the department.

Darren Williams, who heads the business rates appeals team at Colliers, said Snelson arrives at a pivotal time for the department and brings a wealth of expertise to the role. Williams described the appointment as proof that Colliers keeps putting money into new ideas, building up what its team can do and holding its place at the front of the industry.

The business rates division provides specialist advice from eleven offices across the UK. It plans to open a new office at Jessop House in Cheltenham at the end of October. It also operates from three London offices in the City, West End and Uxbridge, along with sites in Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Bristol, Glasgow and Belfast.

More than 140 ratings specialists, including four diploma holders, offer valuations, appeals, compliance and rates accounts management. The team serves automotive, industrial and logistics, office, retail, leisure and hospitality clients.
