Background-
A composites firm has launched a specialist testing business to serve companies developing composite materials and components for demanding applications. Quantis Testing Services, based at Wymeswold Business Quarter near Loughborough, will initially focus on the energy and infrastructure sectors, supporting businesses with complex engineering needs.
The company has been set up to provide testing where existing industry standards do not fully cover a particular material, component or operating environment.
It will build tailored testing programmes with customers, adapting existing test methods or creating new ones where required. Its capabilities span hydrogen environment testing, hydrogen exposure and permeation testing, and pressure testing for pipes and tanks.
Peter Hansen, managing director of Quantis Testing Services, explained that many organizations work with new materials or applications that do not fit neatly into an existing standard test method, and said Quantis has been established to close that gap.
He added that the firm’s focus lies in understanding the engineering application before building a robust, proportionate test programme that generates meaningful evidence.
Quantis becomes the latest business launched under the newly formed Composites Innovation Group, which brings together specialist companies working across the composites sector.
It will work alongside Hive Composites and other group businesses, strengthening testing capabilities for customers pursuing composites research, development and certification.
Hive Composites, established in 2019, provides design, prototyping, certification and consultancy services. The launch broadens the group’s offering to include specialist testing for organizations working on new composite materials and applications in the UK and overseas.
